Black Friday

Hi, I was wondering how many others besides myself feel that Black Friday is very over rated and misleading. I found that many companies false advertised items to lure people to their stores and could not produce products they advertised. My neighbor stood in line at a local Kmart for three hours to purchase a video game system, only to be told that they had one in the entire store which was sold to the first person in line for that item. Four other advertised items was not at the store at all, but the managers searched for the items, as if they did not know prior to opening the store that the items was not there. Did any one else have bad or good experiences from the Black Friday sales?

Well, seeing as how I am poor (lol) I don't go to the black friday sales. My stepmom works at Kohl's so we usually just tell her what we want and she gets it when she goes in to work that day. ;o) Ptetty neat. She's also a great shopper so if she sees something she knows I've been looking for, she'll buy it and then call me. Helps a lot. I havn't had personal experiences with the false advertisement scams because I've never shopped on Black Friday. I do, however, feel that Christmas is completely overrated. Something that should be about love and appreciating the simple things in life has turned into an all out brawl to keep up with the Jones'

It is true that Black Friday is mostly a horrible day. Half the stuff they have will be bought before you even get to see inside of the store. Other times they may only have one or two of an item but they will advertise. anther reason not everything is there is because the employees are also offered the same price and they are there before anyone else and they usually set it aside for themselves. Pretty low if you ask me. But it is mainly an attempt to get people to the store and that is it. But if you are lucky you may find what you want for a good price.

Black Friday was just another day to me. I was definitely NOT out shopping!

"Black Friday" is overly misleading. It is however a good marketing scheme. With every "holiday blowout" it is the same thing. They raise the prices of whatever product they sell a couple of days prior to the holiday, and then, on that holiday--or the day after--they draw back to the original pricing. They also as you have said, advertise items they know they don't have. A GREAT example would be the Wii gaming system. Now that Christmas draws closer, more and more people are 'on the prowl'. I actually went shopping--actually, window shopping on hopes and dreams (lol)--on "Black Friday," but it was just for personal research. My brother is an aspiring entrepreneur and I wanted to show him how businesses 'trick' citizen into wanting more--even when they don't need more. It's all very interesting to me.

I personally love shopping on the Black Fridays sales. I have not ever had a bad experience with false advertisement. Anything I have ever went to get I normally can get because I'm pretty much always at the front of the line I get there so early.

Not the shopper type, so I didn't even go. I really didn't even hear much about it until the day after.

I completely agree. Some stores, not all, advertise these great specials yet only have a few of those items in stock. It is a great way to get peoplke in your store and envoke impulse spending.. But there are those of those who cant afford to buy whatever they want!!
