Goodbye All

Let's post our goodbyes here.

I am teaching this class again next semester.

I plan to make the following changes with the Blog: Allow everyone to have a topic blog. I want to start one on my new fitness program and the results. Tennis alone just isn't working for me. And then we'll respond to those.

I still like the 3 essays on Narrative, Description, Argumentation, but I may rethink how to incorporate the reading. In my Literature classes, we discuss reading assignments. I may do that with Composition. What do you think?

If you have finished this class with an A, B, or C, you are on your way to being a successful college student. We are all extremely busy. You, unlike some of your peers, have time-management skills and can multi-task.

I've enjoyed working with all of you!

Ms. Chapman

I have totally enjoyed this class! I wish you were teaching another one I would be taking. If I could change something about whatwe read, I would have incorporated some more stuff proving that the students read. I don't think half did the reading assignments. The ones that did, could have gotten some credit and the ones that didn't, could have got it counted against them. I dunno!
I had fun with the blog. It connected us all a little better and allowed us to talk as peers instead of just criticts. (on eachother's essays, which I think is also an awesome idea!)... I have really enjoyed this class. It's taught me a lot and this last essay has been the struggle of a lifetime so it's teaching me how to work on my writer's block!!

Thanks, Rocheal.

I've enjoyed you. I agree. I'm going to have to work on how to get folks to read.

I've taught American Lit for the past two years or so, so I'm now taking my turn teaching Composition. I forgot how much fun this is!

Take good care! Keep in touch.

I have also enjoyed this class. You gave us challenging topics to write about. I really enjoyed the essay on the contents of your refrigerator. I was challenged with the final essay, but I am very pleased with my progress and how much I have learned in this class. I also enjoyed the different personalities in the class.

Thanks

It has been a pleasure.

Thanks Latanya.

I've taught 98 and 99 numerous times. [By the way, my students had a high pass rate.] Most nights, they wrote in class. One night I was completely stuck and asked them to write about what was in their refridgerator. Those turned out to be the most interesting essays. Oftentimes, the refridgerator is a metaphor about what was right or wrong with their lives.

I've noticed, for example, that active guys become sedentary their first year or so in college. They've lost their support system. They may have never shopped for groceries, much less cracked an egg before.

Women typically, and unfortunately, have some emotional issues tied with food: they're bored, they're lonely, they're in love (they cook).

So there is my short (lol) response to your refridgerator comment.

I enjoyed the class too. The blog probably was my favorite part. :) It was nice to be able to write about and debate whatever topic you wanted.

The reading assignments did help me organize my essays better. I agree with Rocheal. I could tell by reading some of my peers' essays that they didn't read at all and that was kind of annoying.

Working in groups was a little shaky at first until we learned who was good about responding and who wasn't. But ultimately, I think it was a good idea to have classmates who are writing about the same things look over your work. They pointed out things that I might not have noticed. And there were a few people who always had something interesting to say that I looked forward to reading.

All in all, I think it was a good class. But I like English and Lit anyway so I might be partial. ;)

I'm giving this some thought. I may redo the Reflection paper to respond to questions about the reading.

Do you think that will work?

I have really enjoyed this class this semester. I didn't think I would make it in the beginning but here we all are. I have learned a lot about writing. Over all the best thing about the class was the BLOG. I really enjoyed reading all the difference of opinions from everyone. College has been an over all life change for me and I'm glad to say that my first semester in was a really good experience. Thanks Ms. Chapman for being there to answer questions on my "shut down days." Thanks for a great experience my first semester into college.

Ms. Chapman,
I enjoyed your class and would like to take another of your classes, but I'm transfering to a university in North Carolina in January. I plan to take extra classes in the summer, so I'll look for you when I come back. I liked the different topics we wrote about, particularly the extra credit. It was helpful to me as I got to know you better, as well as your writing dos and don'ts. I also enjoyed the many interactions with my classmates. One way to incorporate the readings is to have discussions around them within the teams or incorporate them into the Blogs. Thanks for everything! Lauren

Amanda,

You'll be surprised to know that I'm an Aries, too!

I also love R&B.

I can't say I love all music; I have oldies rock on right now.

Lauren,

Good luck in N.C. I'm sure you'll do us proud.

I'm not sure about blogging, but I like your idea of chatting about the text in the Teams.

I really enjoyed this class, despite that I really don't like writing essays. They made me think of stuff that I often just overlook or have long forgotten. Well, I really suck at goodbyes, never knowing what to say, so I'll just end it now.

Good-bye!

I enjoy english and literature in general and I believe this class helped out tremendously when it comes to learning how to write different type of essays dealing with Description and Argumenttative essays as well. I believe having the Blog really, made my day when it came down to be able to hear others point of views and express my own. I believe more classes should have this as something that come with their classes, i think that it would help students actually learn more about how others think and believe. I would have to say I do not think that the class itself needs much improving, however, i would have enjoyd to have another essay to write(not sure what type though). The second most intriguing thing I thought was a amazing thing to have for the students, was the Peer Review. I believe that more classes online and not online, should have that kind of set up(it truly helps :) Great Idea), where your peers can critic your writing and give you some constructive criticism.

But, I would have to say having the Blogger, really made my day(s).

This class was pretty cool. I learned a lot and actually enjoyed most of it. The beginning of the semester seemed pretty hectic and disorganized (it may have been just me!) but then it seemed to smooth out. Taking the midterm made me realize I needed to pay more attention to the reading assignments. Good luck next semester!

I think that incorporating the reading assignment into the reflection paper is a good idea. I don't think the paper should have to be longer though. Maybe it should just be a reflection on the reading assignments instead of a reflection on the writing process.
I liked the class and hope you all have a great New Year. Thanks to those who really put effort into the peer reviews.

Believe it or not, I really enjoyed this class. Anything dealing with English or Literature makes me "turn the other cheek." Despite my account going through some problems (or maybe the various computers I was working on--who knows?), I enjoyed the various papers we wrote about. I feel as though I have grown more confident as a writer. I enjoyed voicing my opinion on the blogs; but, my favorite paper was describing my two heros. I was looking for an excuse to write something about either Prince or Jimi Hendrix (lol).
I enjoyed the midterm and hope the final will be just the same. Instead of writing Reflections though, the students should wirte 1page soley on the readings and handout.
Everyone was a joy to work with; thanks for putting up with my tech. issues; and I wish everyone success, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year.

I have really enjoyed the new image of English that this class has given me. I used to hate the thought of reading and writing, just give me a math or chemistry problem and I was good to go. Now however I realize it is not as difficult as I made it seem. I love to let my mind expand on ideas I knew little about as well as sharing my thoughts about my passions. I know that all of my future classes will benifit from the things I learned in here. My computer and research skills were increased with the blog, survey and research we had to accomplish. I am glad you didn't hold us by the hand too much and made us put forth the effort required to LEARN. Too many professors treat their students like highschool students, which makes it easy now, but not so easy when they head of to graduate school...THANKS...for being tough!

Of all my classes this one required the most time, and thought. I really enjoyed it. It made me think, be creative, and want to throw my computer out of the window all at the same time.
Ms. Chapman you have been a doll. I know you probably want scream when it comes to dealing with opening my essays.
The thing that I have learned so far in this class is not about writing papers, even though I have learned a lot about that, is how to stress manage. That is truly a life skill.
I think that the book was extremely helpful. On the other hand some of the stories we read where not really incorprtated. I have no idea of how to incorperate them.
All I can say is thank you. Ms. Chapman and my peers, Thank you for reading and reviewing my essays.
THANK YOU!!!!!
