The entertainment industry needs to be held to stricter standards. Why? Because the moral integrity of our society depends on it. Things that we see and hear stay with us, even subconsciously, and whether those things are frightening, immoral, or good, I believe they affect our actions and behaviors.
How many times have you found yourself humming a song and then, after you realize you are doing it, think, “Man! I hate that song! I need to get it out of my head!” Or maybe you’re lying in bed, unable to drift off, and realize that a movie you saw days ago is replaying itself in your mind? These are both probably typical happenings for most people. When you consider the unconscious behaviors that reveal themselves from time to time, and consider where those actions are coming from, you realize that the media, both music and television, have a huge impact on people.
Many people might believe that an individual has complete control over what they allow themselves to be exposed to. To some extent, this is true, but not completely. What about the music that is playing over the loudspeakers in the grocery store, or the movies that are showing on the big screen TVs at Circuit City? When you are conscious of all of the bits and pieces of media that you are exposed to throughout the day, you might not feel that you have as much control as you originally thought you did.
This is a touchy subject because of “freedom of speech”, but I think that if a person realizes the impact the entertainment industry has on people, most would agree that there needs to be controls in place. It would be nice to think that the things we see and hear don’t affect us, or that we can control our environment and our thoughts, but that isn’t always the case. Our society needs to have standards of behavior and they need to make sure that those standards are enforced and abided by, especially in the media.

I believe that the media is very powerful..It is good and bad. But we all have a choice on what we listen too and what our children listen too. The media for me talks too much.America's television details too much info to other countries.Other countries donot share their television news with America and with that being said.We as Americans give too much information away and then we want to be mad when things start happen bad in our country, but all in all we are the case because we share too much.
The media is very influential and powerful on everybody whether you are 14 years old or 40. Sadly the media is almost always a bad influence because if it was all good stuff then nobody would watch or care what was going on. I think the media needs to rethink their ways and report what is really going on instead of bad news no matter what because that is what the public wants to hear.
The media does have an impact on our lives. When companys create commercials they have to come up with something thats going to stick in our heads. Otherwise their commercial wont be effective. With that being said,we all have the option of changing the channel or the radio station.
The media is so powerful. It is important to educate yourself rather than letting what the media say be you only source of knowledge. Like Kavion said we all have the option to change the channel if we don't like what we hear.
I agree the media is influencial and has an impact on people. However, I believe people also have an influence on the media. The media feeds off of what people's expectations are and what they want to see or hear. People start trends and the media picks up on them and exploits them.
I agree, There would not be any bad media if we didn't buy into it. I hate that we give the media so much power.
I agree that the media has a huge influence over the population. People will buy into practically anything if it's drilled into their memories enough.. From what cereal to buy down to what politics to believe in. I think it's important that people do their own research on things rather than get all of their information from the media. After all, what's portrayed in the media is often just one group of people's perspective on or experience with something.
American media has gotten out of control. I agree that you cannot let television be your only source of information for any topic. You will find that sometimes TV doesnt give you the "real" story or all of the story. They give you the angle that grabs your attention, peaks your interest.
Gonna have to agree also. The media controls some people really thoroughly, influencing them to do things that seem popular everywhere. I just wish there was more positive media to counter all the negative there is out there.
I feel that the media is very influential, exspeacially in our teenagers. And I really agree with Shawndel the US is always tipping of other countries to what our next move will be. They also give to much information to the criminals also such as what leads they have or what area they are searching in, it gives the a chance to cover themselves.
